Home Sweet Home...

In the Book of The Shelters of Stone by Jean M. Auel, Jondolar and Ayla finally returns home, where Jondolar was born, the ninth cave of the Zelandonii, the old stone age settlement. Ayla was introduced to all the people of the ninth cave, but the inhabitants of the ninth cave were wary of Ayla, her healing powers, tamed-wolf, horses which will listen to her.

Ayla has much to learn again from the Zelandonii as well as much to teach them. She is much delighted to meet the Zelandoni, the spiritual leader of the ninth cave and also shares her medicinal and healing experiences with the leader.

Of the many experiences they've shared together, one of the interesting topics to me, has to be the mixing of spirits in the women's body to create the baby growing inside them. Ayla believes life begins when a man and a woman coupled. Well, you'll have to read all about Ayla's adventures to unveil and understand why she thinks that way.

Next, the Zelandoni was very interested to get Ayla to be her next acolyte but Ayla is hesitant about it, she yearns for peace and tranquillity, to be Jondolar's mate and to have children. Ayla gives birth to their child and named her Jonayla and Whinney the mare has also given birth to a filly. At the end of the day, Ayla accepts her unique spiritual gifts and to be Zelandoni's disciple.

Pregnant while on your travels...

Another astonishing book entitled The Plains of Passage by Jean M. Auel. Whinney the mare has given birth to a stallion named Racer and together with the half-tamed wolf, they will have to make their journey across many unpredictable landscape to reach Jondolar's home.

Many an adventure awaits Ayla and Jondolar, particularly the one encounter with another camp where the womens dominated the whole camp, they took over the men's leadership to lead the camp and despised all men. However, in the midst of the whole episode, Wolf came and saved the day.

The mare was in heat again during this journey and a couple of pages were devoted to taking Whinney back from the herds which she has joined in a couple of times. However, Ayla was reluctant to let go of her and eventually, Whinney came back to her master. While travelling on this journey, both Ayla and Jondolar was mastered the guts and wits to ride on the backs of their horses too.

Towards the end of the chapter, Ayla was pregnant with Jondolar's baby and Whinney the mare was also pregnant too. Ayla was glad that she can share her pregnancy with her trusted friend. Safely the group managed to return to Jondolar's home.

Love has finally arrived...

The lyrics of "When i Fall in Love" was coursing thru' my brain when i was trying to form the words to put into this blog of mine...I was constantly thinking of the series of books by Jean M. Auel and this is the second of the series of her books entitled "the Valley of Horses".

Two observations i've gleaned from this book:

~ SOLITUDE IN ANIMALS
The animals that Ayla adopted loved her alot, and when i say alot, they literally will try to please Ayla. Her horse named whinney was her first companion, has helped her in easing alot of her chores especially gathering food and daily needs by attaching a makeshift cart behind her back pulling it back to her cave. Her second companion happens to be the Lion Cub. She rescues this cub and began to take care of it, whenever she goes hunting, both of her animals will assist her to hunt and bringing back her kill. Interestingly, the horse in nowadays term, should be afraid of the lion as its the king of the jungle, but here, they learnt to live with one another although the horse was wary of the lion when it was brought back by Ayla. Ayla has been lucky to have a horse and a lion to be her companions as she continues to search for the others whom are the same as her which her adopted clan mother has been advising her to look for...

~ LOVE & SEX...
Is this book all about SEX? Yes and No, i guess in historical days, humans have only that to satisfy themselves especially for the male counterparts to release their urges. Hence, yes there are some SEX scene involved in this book but other than that, if you were to view it on purely that this is natural and normal for them to act this way, then its fine...Ayla finally finds her soulmate, Jondalar. A perfect heavenly match, unfortunately Jondalar has to bear some pain of his brother's death, Thonolan, killed by Ayla's pet Lion, baby. Jondalar was hurt in the process of trying to protect Thonolan and Ayla later rescues Jondalar. From then on, Jondalar knew that Ayla was the fated one to share his life with and stayed with her till one day, Jondalar feels that he should return back to where he came from and bring back the news of his brother's death. Together both Ayla and Jondalar will have to make the journey together and thru' lotS of dangers and learning from one another too as this is the first time Ayla gets to learn and know of the other's practices.

I feel envy for Ayla, she has finally found the others to share her life with. Thru' thick and thin, Jondalar will have to prove that he is the one who will and able to share his life with this incredible woman.

I've also attached pix of my pets as i think i like Ayla has also found solace in my animals, although my pets can't help me with my chores but its okay, as long as they don't create more chores for me...

"Our nomination for the year's great escape." - Playboy

"Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man and he brought her to the man". - NIV Bible....

When i started reading this novel [the Clan of the Cave Bear] by Jean M.Auel. I was both fascinated and ever ready to turn that next page of her novels. She is indeed a writer whom just as what Playboy has describe, the year's best escape. I may be abit or alot cheeky here, but this book here is not just mainly because of the S word...but packs in more than that. It reveals the destiny of Ayla, the others, a outcast by the people of the clan of the cave bear. Found by the Clan people, she now has to gain their the clan's trust as she is so much different from the clan people. As she finally grows up, her clan mother entrusted the status of the medicine woman to her as she has been trained from the time she was brought back to stay with them. From a young age, she has to learn to differentiate the different kind of medicines and which one to prescribe to her patients. Her clan mother even doubts that she is able to memorize all the medicinal effects of all the different drugs as the clan people have memories that will not fail them in times of need. As her clan mother's health deteriorates, she is bestowed upon as the clan's next medicine woman, a status that is pretty high in the womans ranking in the clan, if not second to the leaders wife.

The book reveals the intimacy of Ayla and the leaders first born son whom despises Ayla and takes advantage of sexual abuse towards her as all men in the clan can choose any woman that they fancy upon to release their needs. Ayla got pregnant because of this and later has a boy whom has inherited the looks of both the clan people and the others. At the end of the day, because of some bad incidents that happened and Ayla was forced to leave the clan people and her only son to live by herself. Lucky for her, she has learned all the survival skills in order to live her life alone...

My emotions were on the high when i read that Ayla was to leave the clan community and live by herself. She was devastated by this decision by the leader of the clan community but yet, she cannot deny the Mog-ur, magician and holy man of all the clans. Was it her destiny or fate to lead her life to this point in life? But her fate seems to be leading her towards a new direction in life which will be her new future. What is the morale of this story, you may ask? This is just a novel, but from it, i can derive a few truths from here. You don't say quit that easily, take our Ayla for example, she insist that her newborn baby will be able to survive through his difficult early weeks after he is born... Ayla continues to practise the art of a hunter even though she is not allowed to do that for its not in the woman's status to do that and only the males are allowed to go hunting to bring back food on the table...Ayla still continues to live her life even though she has been raped by the leaders son umpteen times for he deems it as a punishment for her...Through all this, she is now the woman, whom will be the future of all humanity..
